YOU WAKE UP IN A ROOM...
When you wake, it is within a room of white. The floor and ceilings, with two doors and no windows, are white. The bed which you lay upon, with simple sheets and one blanket and pillow, are white. The clothes you wear- a simple shirt, pair of pants, and one collar around your neck- are White.
It could be considered solitary confinement of some kind, a prison cell perhaps- if not for the high quality of the surroundings. One of the doors even leads to a washroom filled with white towels, curtains, a mirror, and other such things.
What stands out most in the room barely stands out at all within the first glance. It would be easy to miss the small keyboard that juts out from the wall nearest the other door- at least until a massive screen appears upon it, revealing the figure of a man.
A man in a white mask with white hair.
"
Aah. And so, you arise." Is it you, he speaks to specifically? Or are there others in this place? "
You will find yourself with limited resources...unfortunately. Such is necessary… too much freedom and there become too many… Variables," the man seems to determine.
"
I have left you my facility to explore… room by room, but I do not wish you to meet another. Not in person, at least… no. I shall leave you divided… hidden, until the greatest time. I am afraid that you are… not here for enjoyment," he admits, though perhaps this was already obvious. "
Rather...there is something you must do for myself."
There is a pause. Long, and silent, his masked visage flickering upon the screen.
Until finally he breathes... "
Battle. Be it by games or by blade. By hobby or by career… I shall have you battle, two by two. Yes… this I shall have you do. I will contact you, those who must fight. For now however my facilities are… yours."
"
None shall meet by face, but you may…. I decided… still communicate through the written word. I leave you screens and pads with which to type. But your names shall remain mine. There will be no sharing these until I have declared it... Such is necessary," the masked man concludes, unmoving... not even to nod.
"
Such is now your existence here."
The screen turns off. And the imprisoned will find truth to his words. Their names cannot be typed, not even in code; when they make messages to the others, it is sent either from an anonymous unrelated “duel monster” or simply the room they are located in. During the first two weeks in fact, they can't even describe their appearances, their careers; beyond vague details that could be applied to anyone,
all personal points of note are 'auto-corrected' into scrambled letters or nonsense. No one can enter a room that has a person within it- a dance of coming and going required for simple exploratory tasks. Yet there are many rooms to explore. They range from the mundane; kitchens, dining rooms, small studies with desks to work upon; to the more extravagant, such as rooms with swimming pools, entertainment systems, dance floors, board games, stuffed toys... even a nursery, which later in their time might possibly show signs of use.
And everything inside, short of the food, is white.
The man's words echo-
"
I shall contact two of you shortly."
WELCOME TO RED ROVERThis is the Primary Event Log for the YuGiOh! Dressing Room's re-opening event, Screens! Players who have not lost their match-ups, or participated in a match-up at the time, will be using this log for the duration of the event. The exception is for Match Decision Rounds-which will be held on an Anon-Only post. (Naturally, to keep things simple and less confusing, This post isn't anon-enabled.)
If you have any questions, be sure to ask them below! A unique top-level for Match Results will also be made, so that people can track the event's progress and react accordingly.
WEEKLY UPDATE> As of
WEEK 3, prisoners will find themselves able to describe their appearances on the online system. They will still, however, be unable to note exact age, as well as names, places, and other unique details of canon.
> As of
WEEK 5, prisoners are able to make note of precise age and species among themselves, as well as other appearance-related notes. Names, locations, and unique details/hobbies are still censored.
> As of
WEEK 7, the windows of various rooms will act as 'Two-Way Mirrors'; those in courtyards cannot see through them, but those in rooms adjacent to these chambers Can. Sounds are still muted between these chambers, however. Unique hobbies and careers can also be named-however, they cannot be described in detail.
> As of
WEEK 9, a noted change occurs in the sound permeability of the walls. High frequencies can pass through them, though people in the room with the sound source risk their hearing if attempts to communicate are made using this. Additionally, unique hobbies and careers can now be described in detail.
> As of
WEEK 11, windows can now be seen through upon either side; however, they cannot fog, nor be written upon, and competitors will find that writing messages fails due to 'visibility limitations'. However, all things outside their Names can be shared in text chat.
> As of
WEEK 13, all but names can be shared in the chat; however, voices can now carry through the doors and walls! While none are able to enter rooms with others inside, or break walls down, vibrations carry easily and messages upon windows can be read in full now.
